Wednesday, May 22, 2013, 5:02 PM - In the aftermath of natural disasters the inspirational stories of the people involved come to the surface, but very few are as unique and touching as the one witnessed by television viewers involving Barbara Garcia.

Garcia, a survivor of the massive tornado that tore through Moore, Okla., explains to a television reporter how she sat on a stool in her bathroom as the tornado destroyed the neighbourhood outside. With her in the bathroom was her dog, who was presumed lost in the rubble when the tornado finally passed by.

"I hollered for my little dog and he didn't come, so I know he's in there," Garcia said in the interview.

Then, just seconds later, the reporter points to a small dog trying to emerge from beneath some debris, and is immediately recognized by Garcia as her pet.

"Well I thought God answered one prayer to let me be OK, but he answered both," Garcia added as she bent down to soothe the animal. Take a look at the video below:
